My class discussion topic at Academy of Art University became for than a “Hello.”

I was born and raised in Portland Oregon. I threw up in my Aunty’s car drinking grape juice, and in 1994, I was laying on the floor in what seemed like really big house drawing with my big Sister big houses.

I started off drawing her detailing and finishing her designs, though she did it as a hobby and to doodle, and I was fascinated by it. I later realized that I too could design such homes and every part of it. I wasn’t fortunate to have lots of support on my innovative and introverted ways, but I became old enough to take the bus home, and go play in the neighborhood. I stumbled upon the boys and girls club, lents. It was a little more than a sprint from my house down a bike path, Portland has tons of those.

I became a member, and everyday after school I would go there, socialize, and create. I’ve always been into social marketing before I knew what it was. My Mother and family never understood how I could end up in offices and exclusive places at such a young age. I was always asking questions and trying to learn things that I had in interest in until I mastered it. Because creating was such a big part of my life, the more I learned, the more I could create. Speaking of create, most of my architectural plans today came from the inspiration of a ton of things that I lacked as a child. A big closely knit family, nice home, better hangout places on my property or in my community, and a a touch of luxury that was affordable to those who wanted it. In my early teens, I won art contest for trips to DC and even visited MIT’s campus for teen summits and had an opportunity to work with Intel after they blessed our club with 1.5 million dollars of technology. I had access to the top industry software like 3DS Max, Maya, AutoCad, and Lego Mindstorms for robotics. I was a teen mentor, and realized that I was born into this world as a creator and as a motivational speaker or a kind of creative coach in a way. I became the president of a nationally recognized group called “Keystone.” The club and that stimulation of community acceptance and support because my life and a lifestyle that I wanted to share with others on a larger scale.

I got to old to be a member of the club and I wasn’t ready to work for them, but I received an award for youth of the year in 2006 for leadership in community development. I began looking into Academy of Art, and took some time off of high school to develop my “pre professional portfolio,” and defining myself as an artist. Since then, I’ve enrolled for civil engineering tech at Portland Community College, and I had finally discovered what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Found my design firm Modern Masterpiece and found a non profit organization(AMA) for our business oriented youth who were like me. For years, I would say” If only the industry didn’t see me as a child and listen to my ideas, I could help change the world.” I decided to prove to the industry that students are very powerful, and to my peers that every dream does have an equal reality. I’ve been around the world to follow a dream in the Philippines, which wasn’t believed by my family until I showed them the tick itinerary. 3 months abroad brought even more clarity about my path and the world’s solutions needed in my area of study. Today, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Architecture, and a Bachelor in Science in Architectural Engineering. My focus is on sustainable urbanism, and I aspire to be an independent firm and to get bids for jobs in Master Planning( green cities) and residential developments, and especially some overseas projects. I will not be a sellout and chase the money, but simply to only chase my dream. I will stimulate the world of design and our youth starting with the community first to help make a difference in someones life like they’ve help me.

Being An Artist

I understand I wrote a biography and a proposal in a way, which makes a great new version of my artist statement. To be fully honest, It just came out as I was compelled to share it with my fellow architects. They say you never know that the partners you work with in the industry may have been with you in college. I must say to my fellow artist, that when you have an idea act on it right away. Any dream or epiphany, write it down, if something else is occupying your time, because this is one way innovation happens. My good friend said “I want to design but I am not sure where to start, I’m not a good drawer.” I told him to just start because in many cases, it may be the only real battle. Everything else fuels drive. I look forward in meeting all of you and I wish us all well in our careers, no matter what we choose to do as long as we follow our hearts.

Waterfalls, and rollers coasters, What they’ll be, you know until, you slow down, to take it easy, sometimes in reverse, now we repeat these,

(talking about my tears, ups and downs. Not expecting anything for your future so there is no disappointment. Taking a break from a relationship. Reuniting, and continuing where you left off or building more relationships)

Symphonies, and harmonies, of some of you and some of me, but when you get off the ride, just remember, still by your side, I surrender,

(the many elements that make up ones life and relationships. Your and theirs. Should you move on, know that I am there. I wish you could stay, but I understand, though I beg)

Should you keep me, or should I delete thee, but nonetheless, I continue to seek thee,

A fantasy I have to let go, in my chase of Destiny, I’ll never slow,

(i try hard to not see you as a fantasy. Stop it, I let it go. I just follow my true dreams and with great speed)

Eventually, her face will show, furthermore, talk to you later, but for now please you don’t have to go,

Ah, The Many Perks of Being A Student

Part 1 of my series of journals explaining first hand use of Autodesk’s new 360 Cloud integration for students

Introduction

I, in a few short weeks, will continue my second semester at Academy of Art University as an Architect major. Though the cost of my private education is higher than most public universities, there are a few benefits of the recent  increase of tuition, and one of those is the ability for us to tap into high-end industry standard software suites like Adobe and Autodesk. After learning about Autodesk’s student software center, I began researching into the types of software that I might use as a graduating professional. Not only do I have access to it all, but I can legally download and obtain a student license from Autodesk directly. I did just that starting with their presentation software called “Autodesk Showcase.”

Autodesk 360: Diving Into A New World of Creative And Collaborative Workflow

Honestly, a light bulb went off in my head as I was talking to one of my Creative Directors and had recently got around Autodesk’s current download issues with their student community. I was looking forward to downloading Maya 2013, Rivet 2013, and some others. It informed users about the issue and gave a direct link to download Autocad 2013. I was click to download as Autocad is my primary platform for 2D and 3D modeling. As I was about halfway done installing the software, I ended up on the Autodesk 360 homepage after searching how to access the cloud storage of their 360 platform. I’ve seen so many advertisements of it that I had to give it  try. I used my registered email for the Autodesk student community, and I was in. What? Awesome, I thought. Then I thinking to myself now what?

I was greeted with a dashboard, very clean and organized as your typical right side bar, content area, header layout like on most corporate sites. There was a feed in the main content area which shows you a timestamp of events which occurred today. I previously took my latest CAD project “Slice,” and uploaded a few files from it to see what I could do with it. Keep in mind that the whole purpose of getting this cloud service is so I can have copies of my most important work at my fingertips, especially if I meet some guru professional and they have a short amount of time to view my work on the spot. Why would you not want to take advantage of that capability? Also dearest reader, please don’t allow yourself to be in a pinch for time to re model something after, God forbid, you loose your thumb drive, someone steals your property with it, the zombies demand it from you, or simply file corruption which may occur. It’s 2013 now, so take advantage of these opportunities. I mean, who doesn’t love free cloud storage? Uh, those who aren’t using it. Sorry, back to the interface. It looks like I can only see recent activity for the last three  months. Okay. That’s pretty much it as far as how does it look. when you mouse over the file name in the feed list, there is a cloud balloon for comments. I was able to leave a comment right from that home screen(see screenshot). Because you have an Autodesk profile, you can upload a pretty picture to display next to your comments. By the way, you can make your files public to share with non Autodesk users via email. By default, all project files are private, which is great news for me. The home feed even shows a thumbnail of each file,  and when you create a new folder to integrate into your cloud organization. I created one for my furniture design portfolio. So far, still loving it.

My goal at first was to find a solution for cloud storage for my Architectural portfolio. Since Autodesk’s 360 is more than just storage, I will share with you all of the features that I try and use first hand and I won’t go in to all of the other services in this journal, but please subscribe and stay tuned because I have a feeling that I will have tons to say. I seen an advertisement for 3GB free when you signup. Magically, I have 25GB in my account. One reason for this is because I signed up with my university email as a requirement for free software. There may be a chance that Autodesk recognizes my university and maybe we are granted more because of their partnership, but that I cannot say for sure. All I know is that I now have an epic amount of storage for my files. Since Cad files are generally tiny, that is like giving me a small salt shaker and every grain of salt is an Autodesk file. Crazy right? See(smile). One thing I forgot to mention was the built in file viewer under the my documents tab. You can enlarge the vie and have the ability to view, isolate objects, orbit, and zoom a 3D model all from in the browser. Yea, epic.

Conclusion of part 1

If you have a need of more cloud storage specifically for CAD or Autodesk file-types and you are a student with a tight budget, this is surly a good addition to your workflow solutions. With the ability for an organized digital portfolio in a well trusted cloud, I don’t see how any reason to not try it out for a week. Like seriously, get it, and give it a serious trial and see how you can use it in your workflow. A brief summary of the features I’ve discovered so far are as follows:

• 3-25GB Cloud storage for students
• Clean and simple interface
• integration into their mobile app for Android or IOS
• Create folders
• files have thumbnail pictures
• privately keep your files or share them publicly
• versioning of files
• shortcut to edit online via Autocad WS
• right side bar which shows your 360 benefits available to your account
• save directly to the cloud from specific Autodesk Programs
• great peaceful state of mind knowing your files are at least safe in one other place

Uber Conference Is undeniably a truly awesome web 2.0 app for all of your conferencing needs. I’ve been using it for a few months, and now I use it to make all my conferences. Not only is it free,

but like Eben Pagan has taught me  about moving up the free line, Uber Conference has including many features in their basic free plan. Some of the features includes the ability to have your own permanent conference number with call in pins, open pins for guest callers, the ability to record the call and download it as an mp3, but like a Google Plus hangout, the conference has a web interface which shows who’s talking in real time so there is no confusion.

So why is Uber Conference so much better than the other services? I have not any reason to stop using it. It has really helped me in my business. I can go to my dashboard, and schedule  conference. At the time of scheduling, I can add contacts names and phone numbers, or sync it with my Google contacts and get them from there. Once you add people to the conference, you can have an impromptu meeting or schedule it for later. Once the meeting is set, every participant will get a text message including the name of the meeting, the phone number to dial and a pin number to enter the call. Once really cool thing is since Uber Conference is Uber smart, if you’ve invited a particular phone number to a conference, once they call in, there is no need for a pin because their number is automatically recognized and they are connected immediately.

The web interface is very nice because you are able to see who is talking in real time, and if you’ve added a nice picture of them or if their gravatar is recognized, then you will see their pretty face(smile). Not only can you see everyone’s image of who is on the call, but you can control their audio and moderate the conference too. Sometimes, you might need to mute someones mic to prevent interruptions and un wanted background noise.  Also, after the call, you are emailed a summary of the call and statistics of who talked the most and who talked the least. One more major epic bonus, is it’s integration with Evernote. It automatically sends a copy of the summary to Evernote where I can tag and catalog the event for my clients so everything can be reference if needed in the future.

There is an upgrade, which allows more control over the look of your conference’s web interface and your account. For example, you can brand your company and remove the Uber conference logos, have reoccurring conferences scheduled, and more callers on the call at once. In the free plan, you only get 15 members who can be on a call at a time, but for me, that is more than plenty.

Some of the cool things I’ve done with Uber Conference was to connect it to my Google Plus Hangout as a caller. That was an epic experiment. I was able to have 9 people on video, and 15 other people connected via Uber Conference. How cool is that? It’s very cool if you can ever get that many people on at the same time. For a small business, it seems like the perfect solution to stay connected, especially in 2013.

In conclusion, because Uber Conference is free and powerful, the only limitations you have are the one you allow yourself to have. Get it now. It has been such a blessed year in 2012

and all signs point to yes that 2013 will be the year that Modern Masterpiece | AMA will exponentially accelerate into becoming a well know brand, business, and unity between my two childhood projects. Let’s talk a little bit about what 2012 brought to me before we move on to this New Year. Not only did fate bring me the opportunity to potentially move to California, but I have been living a manifested dream into reality for the last seven months. I moved to Moreno Valley in June, and by September, I had my financial aid approved and accepted and registered for AAU. To be an Academy of Art Architecture BFA major is so mind blowing because a few years back, they did not offer it as an undergraduate program. So are you see, everything happened in all the right time. I’ve came up with a few concepts in the Modern Masterpiece portfolios, and 2012 marked the third year of being a freelance Creative Director and all income was one hundred percent from doing something I loved. Not only did I complete my first successful of Architecture, but I ended up with a B+ in my core curriculum, and also became extremely driven to complete some projects for MM|AMA.  For all of my class projects I did as I’ve always done and made them pre professional portfolio pieces. For the first time ever, I realized Sky Plaza in 2D and 3D, added one of three companion buildings for Sky and I’ve found a workflow from AutoCad to Android, which allows me to turn my body in space to look around my dream house “Villa De Bailey.”

God willing, I made it to another New Year, and I begin the year with some very crucial components that make this year more powerful than any other; the AAUHOO Facebook community for Academy of Art University students. This year, I will begin my second semester t Academy of Art, plan to start my IDP internship, visit the campus or move on campus, and to get my non profit AMA founded. I am so thankful to be in this position, and I ask that you continue to follow me along my journey as I go from undergrad to the industry as an intrapreneur.   The mission of the AMA is that every dream has an equal reality, and everywhere and everything that I am today is proof of it. I will continue to inspire, teach, and connect with like minded individuals, and I encourage you to continue to be blessed, creative, and abundant in all the things you desire.

It’s been so long since I’ve made a blog post, and I’m glad to be back.  I’m currently updating my site and improving the SEO.

So, it’s been a little over a month in MoVal, and now I’m parting ways to San Francisco to finish my double Bachelor Architectural Engineering and Architecture. The cool thing about my school is it’s private, the other thing is it’s private. It seems tough to get lots of financial aid without a cosigner, but I am blessed with the government gave me. For now, I will not live on campus like I wish too, but I will relocate and find a nice cozy studio.

Thank you to all my followers and supporters, and please continue to support me on my pursuit and chase of Destiny. She is beautiful, and forever faithful. I haven’t blogged in a while so I’m grateful for this opportunity. Also, I need to keep my search engine ranking up!

On another note, I became fond of Panera Bread, because they have the fastest internet in a public place with fair user agreement terms which allows me to spend hours online when I need to take care of business.

Oh what a crazy week.

Relationships 101

It’s only been a few days since I relocated to MoVal, and already my feelings and hormones are getting the best of me. As much as I want a stable relationship, I really just want to get to know new people, but my heart is confused as hell. One minute I like her, sometimes I hate her then I love her. What the fuck? We’ve all written a list of our dream partner and we may have all found out by now that the list is merely a list and what we need is different from what we want. I love my Asian woman of course but I came to realize as I matured that any woman can be the right one as long as her lifestyle resonates with the bigger picture in my heart, not my head. Horses, waterfalls, fire, all the elements, a big home filled with family, a nice car, motorcycle, and a boat, and most importantly a God fearing wife. I’ve been around the world to the Philippines and back for love and that wasn’t even the ideal. The obsession I had was the story behind my pursuit of Destiny, or Chase of Destiny more accurately. The thought that if what we had was 100% real instead of just 40% makes me really appreciate what I have in life and how hard I’ve worked to get here. I’ve held on to my purity, sanity, and morals, for years and nothing will change that.

Today, is the start of my annual week long birthday celebration. It’s pretty wild to be in Cali celebrating so much, and I never thought I’d come to town with a Queen kind of waiting for me, excited to meet me. This girl is so damn sexy, its ridiculous. If I based everything off of looks alone, she is a 9 in my book. Because I am the lover one man type, once I got beyond the slapping and wrestling, and biting, I really enjoyed her sensitive side. It was very clear to me after our second night hanging out that she is attracted and opening up to me, but I’m not that easy. lol. I really want to feel like we have a connection beyond sexual attraction. I kind of feel it, and kinda isn’t for sure. Most of my guys would be like, ” Smack, I would just hit. ” well fuck off because this is my life and I do have feelings too. I’ve been around a ton of Bitch niggas in the last few months, and I don’t mind expressing my true self. This is why I blog, so my readers won’t have to guess or assume anything about me. I don’t have shit to hide.

Anyway, as I’m trying to rest at night, I’m wondering why she isn’t calling me, or when will I get that one night alone with her? I felt pathetic because it’s only been a few days. Aren’t I over the love at first sight theory? After all, she is mostly my type, but there are things that keep her from being 95% Mrs Modern Masterpiece, but it’s not so critical at this point. I just want to know what she really wants from me and how she feels. Mutually, we think each other is sexy as hell, and seem to enjoy each others company, but as I said, this is new to me. I’m not in Portland anymore, that’s for sure. I can’t trust my heart to just anyone . Hopefully soon, I’ll spend more uninterrupted time with her so we can both be more clear.

Lastly, my other friend refers to me as that so that’s what it is. I understand of she doesn’t want a relationship at this point. No, I’m not trying to be a player or have tons of woman, but I would like to know who is good for me. I use to really like this other friend, but now I have put my heart away to save for later. It’s an interesting mix of similarities and differences between the two, and i’ll just have to see what happens.

business update

My new business card designs are very Modern Masterpiece to the T.  I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a 7D, some solid state hard drives, and a new mackbook with all the software including Protools and Avid Media Composer. I feel like this will really up my game. I am no doubt in the right place.
